We [heart] Kids

Jeff and Christine Gill
  Jeff & Christine are uniquely
  suited to work with children

Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.’ Children have a natural ability to connect with God. At i61 we make it a priority to let them. The first half of our Sunday meeting is filled with live music, drama and video – the kids enjoy it as much as the adults. Often the children even take the lead! During the second half of the meeting we split up for more age-appropriate activities. There are classes for ages 2 1/2 – 5 and 6 – 11. High school students and adults stick together in the main room. But the really good thing is that we are all on the same subject. This means you’ll have something to talk about on the way home.

It’s about building community, making friends, learning the bible’s classic stories and connecting with God. Did we mention that all of this is a load of fun?

A Parable by 678

678 (the 10-13 year-olds of i61) are studying the parables of Jesus. Obviously, the thing to do is to write a parable. We gave them three ideas to choose from. They picked one and wrote a story, then we filmed it. Now i61 proudly presents a story about the way people view God and the way God actually is and the reason God gives us commands: Daniel and The Lions.

Really Talking to God

The Lord's Prayer

Most everyone knows the Lord’s prayer, but how often do we think about what we are say when we repeat those words? A few days ago the kids of 678 (ages 10-13) did some thinking about what that famous prayer means to them. Here are some of the things they wrote.

Our Father in Heaven

Hallowed be your name

Your kingdom come

Your will be done on earth on as it is in heaven

Give us today our daily bread

And forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one

For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever

Amen

*Wicked is used here with the informal meaning of very cool, not the more commonly understood meaning of evil.
