Great Conwy Mountain Climb

On the 5 July, 2009 a bunch of people raised money for i61’s mission to Uganda, Africa by climbing/racing, with or without fancy dress, to the top of Conwy mountain. There were prizes for the fastest up the mountain in different age categories. Big congratulations to Alex Stronach who participated in the ‘teen’ category and recorded the fastest time of the day, as well as a new official record of 3 minutes and 15 seconds (previous unofficial record was 4 minutes and 30 seconds). As well as prizes for being the fastest there were also prizes for best costumes in each age group.

Big huge thanks to everyone who participated, including St. Johns ambulance who insured our safety. Also all of the local Conwy business for donating the prizes; Chatterbox, Conwy Outdoor Shop, Popty Bakery, Secret Garden, Cymru Craft, Beckett’s Bags & Co., The Sunset Club & Conwy Strollers. The Knight Shop also donated some of the best costumes of the day!

See some photos!

The teen group start their journey.

Alex Stronach (from the teen age group) didn’t just win his age group but beat everyone and everything that stood in his way. New official record! 3 minutes and 15 seconds! beat that if you can…

A rest before heading back down.
